In 1991 the fortified village of Monpazier, one of “the most beautiful villages of France”, obtained the distinction of “National Monument”, as did Capdrot and Biron. For Monpazier, this ensured its XIIth century architecture was better preserved and protected.

The Chateau of Biron, one of the seats of four baronies in the Périgord, houses many architectural styles : from the XIIth century donjon to XVIIIth century edifices and Renaissance rooms and chapel. Open all year for visitors. In this region you will also find fifteen churches (thirteen are Roman), arts and crafts of many artists and artisans, markets with locally sourced products and their producers, markets with wild mushrooms, guided tours and archeological visits.
