Mill of Rouzique

The Moulin de la Rouzique, a place to visit and workshop

At the Moulin de la Rouzique, the guide retraces with you the history of the place and the stages of paper making through the different rooms by setting in motion different mechanisms of the mill dating from the 16th century (paddle wheel, round shape machine…).

Come and operate the paddle wheel and discover a skill by making your own sheet of paper! At the end of your visit, observe a rich collection of filigrees, some of which date from the 16th century.

The mission of the mill’s team is above all to help you discover the gestures related to the making of handmade paper through visits, demonstrations and workshops.

This mill perpetuates the tradition of paper made from hemp, linen and cotton fibers and houses a rich collection of watermarks. Couze et Saint-Front was home to up to 13 paper mills at the end of the 19th century.
